Good Water Governance and German water technology for two major Chinese water bodies

The joint project SINOWATER deals with two of the three most significant and strongest polluted Chinese waters, the river Liao and the Dian-lake in the area of the metropolises Shenyang and Kunming, respectively. The overall goal of the project SINOWATER is the improvement of the water quality in the mentioned water bodies as well as development and optimization of Good Water Governance. These objectives are to be achieved through the implementation of innovative German water technologies and the optimization of water management elements.

SINOWATER is one of three parts of the Innovation Cluster Major Water. The cluster comprises various BMBF projects on Sino-German water-related research. Further information can be found on the homepage of  BMBF’s accompanying project:

Mrs. Nicole Umlauf, head of the BMBF project office “Clean Water” in Shanghai, supports the BMBF joint water research projects in China, including SINOWATER.

The Research Institute for Water and Waste Management at RWTH Aachen University (FiW) was delighted to welcome expert Chinese representatives of Suzhou Industrial Park Qingyuan Hong Kong China Water Co., Ltd. for the BMBF funded research project SINO-Nutrients (SINO-N).
